Tamagoyaki is a heartwarming short film about the love mothers express through food, reflecting a quiet but meaningful aspect of affection often present in Japanese culture.
For this project, I was responsible for the art direction, design, and animation of the opening title and end credit sequence. The main challenge was ensuring that the illustration style and motion felt aligned with the pacing and emotional tone of the film.

『Tamagoyaki』は、食を通して母親が子どもに伝える愛情を描いた心温まる短編映画です。特に、日本文化に見られる控えめながらも深い愛情表現をテーマにしています。
本作では、タイトルおよびエンドクレジットのアートディレクション、デザイン、アニメーションを担当しました。映画のテンポや感情の流れに自然に溶け込むよう、イラストのスタイルや動きの表現を調整することが大きなポイントでした。

After discussions with the director to establish the visual direction, I developed several design approaches for both the title and end credits.
For the end credits, one concept explored extending the story beyond the film, showing the mother and daughter grocery shopping and preparing onigiri together, echoing the food-centered moments seen in the film.
監督との打ち合わせを通してビジュアルの方向性を定めた後、タイトルとエンドクレジットそれぞれに対して複数のデザイン案を制作しました。
エンドクレジットでは、映画の物語の延長として、母と娘が一緒に買い物をし、おにぎりを作る様子を描くアイデアも検討しました。これは劇中で描かれる食を通した関係性をさらに広げる演出として提案したものです。

During the animation phase, I explored different treatments for the “O” in Tamagoyaki to ensure the motion style integrated naturally with the overall visual language of the film.
アニメーション段階では、「Tamagoyaki」の “o” の動きについて複数の表現を試し、作品全体のビジュアルスタイルに最も自然に合うモーションを検討しました。
